When you visit a place, you spend a few days in the chosen destination trying to live it as a native from the area, to understand better the environment, culture and traditions.
If you decide to travel to Ibiza, besides enjoying a wonderful rural environment and paradisiacal beaches, Ibiza has amazing gastronomy.
Ibizan cuisine is rich in vegetables, like all Mediterranean cuisine. Moreover, being an island the fishing influence is present in all its gastronomic culture.
On the other hand, you can also taste delicious dishes of meat and rice, because its cuisine has a marked influence from Valencia.
From Insotel we suggest you to taste the local fish. You will repeat, for sure. In this post, we will give you the recipe of the “Tonyna a l’eivissenca” dish, its translation to English is “Ibizan Tuna”. Tuna is a fish used in many dishes of the island, as it is abundant in the Mediterranean Sea.
The ingredients for two people we will use are:
- Mediterranean red tuna (2 slices)
- Red bell peppers (1)
- Carrot (1/2)
- Onions (1)
- Tomatoes (2)
- White wine (1/2 cup)
- Lemon juice
First, cut onions into thin slices, the carrots and the green peppers. Once all these ingredients are prepared, put them in a clay pot with olive oil on the stove burner.
In a pot with hot water scald the tomatoes to remove the skin easily. Then smash the tomatoes with a fork and add to the pot all the other ingredients. Once in the pot, cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
When we have these vegetables cooked, add the slices of Mediterranean red tuna. Then cook over medium heat for 5 minutes on one side and 5 minutes on the other side. We should not prolong cooking more than 10 minutes for having a tender tuna.
When it’s cooked, add the white wine, water, raisins, pine nuts and spices, and then cover everything and let stand for 1 minute.
As you can see, it’s a delicious meal, prepared very fast and easy. In our hotels on the island of Ibiza you will find delicious fish dishes reliably portraying the true gastronomic culture of the island.
