The northern part of Mallorca: Pollensa

Pollensa is a town located in the northern part of the island of Mallorca. It is the sixth largest municipality of Mallorca with 146 km2.

In Pollensa, beside from travelling where you will discover the most authentic of Mallorca, it also has room for cultural activities. In this town you will find 70 archaeological sites. In them are remains of our ancestors of prehistory and pre talayotic period, all these are preserved in the caves you’ll find in the deposits. The Romanesque period has its bridge and the remains of the water channeling is preserved.

But without a doubt one of the most characteristic points of the city is its port. This is a unique port where you will find a staircase of 365 steps, one for each day of the year, linking the city with the city of Calvary Chapel.

Another attraction are its popular celebrations of Sant Antoni held in January. The emblematic tradition is to plant a tree about 20 meters in the main town square. This pine is harvested on a farm in the area known later be carried by all the inhabitants of Pollensa to the square. Once it is planted and young people compete to see who can climb higher. A unique festival where you can see the real roots of Pollensa.
