Alternative plans to do in Ibiza

Ibiza is one of the favourite destinations for the summer, so if you are thinking about going to Ibiza but you don’t know what to do or see, from Insotel we will try to help you with this article, giving some ideas of alternative plans beyond visiting beaches and coves.

What are the best plans in Ibiza?

Craft workshops

One of the alternative plans that you can do if you want to get into the Ibiza culture, is to sign up for one of the many craft workshops that are around the island.

For example, there are jewellery workshops, decoration workshops for baskets, workshops for the creation of espadrilles, workshops to create dream catchers, workshops on wood decoration techniques, etc.

In addition to learning craft techniques, you will return with authentic souvenirs made by you, which you can give away or have at home as a very authentic souvenir of your trip.

Visit the monuments of Cala Llentia

Another one of the alternative plans in Ibiza, could be to visit the famous monuments of Cala Llentia. Located to the west of the island, Cala Llentia is not only famous for its waters, but there are two monuments that make it quite special.

First of all, between the beaches of Cala Codolar and Cala Llentia is the monument of the two mysterious doors. These are two facing doors that symbolize a room without walls, these doors are made of wood with frames and Arabic engravings, in which the hand of Fatima stands out. The author of the doors is unknown, although for that reason it has ceased to be an enigmatic work worthy of admiration.

In second place, is the work “Time and Space” one of the most outstanding monuments of modern outdoor art in Spain. Created by Andrew Rogers at the request of Guy Laliberté, founder of Circo del Sol.

The work is part of “Rhythms of Life” a collection of 50 works of the artist scattered around the world. The work itself, is about thirteen columns of basalt that surround another column of 20 meters high that contains in its top a gold bath of 23 carats.

Its meaning lies in representing the movement of the planets around the sun in its sunset of the winter solstice and is inspired by the numerical sequence of Fibonacci, where each number is the sum of the previous two.

Explore the cave of Can Marçà

The cave of Can Marçà is located to the north of the island, about 20 km from Ibiza, it belongs to the town of Sant Miquel. This cave is known for its charm and history, since in the 100,000 years it has been used by smugglers to store its merchandise, it has been analysed by speleologist Jean Pierre Van Der Abeelle and has ended up being a place to receive visitors with guided tours explaining the waterfalls, the appearance and the history of the place.

Visit the Puig de Missa in Santa Eulària

Finally, another of the alternative plans in Ibiza could be to visit the Puig de Missa, since it is an emblematic place in Ibiza and contains one of the most impressive temples on the island.

It is located next to Santa Eulalia and 52 meters above the sea. The church of the place is located on the top of a hill, surrounded by a conglomerate of houses and walls, because in the past the place was a religious, defensive and vigilant site, so that several groups of people of different nature coexisted.

Puig de Missa is a place of cultural and historical interest, since the origin and the history of the place are of great interest, but also many people visit it due to its beautiful views, the peace it generates and its special charm.
